Introduction

This mini-site covers issues concerning coastal infrastructure in relation to Natura 2000 sites. It is divided into two parts:
An overview of the issues concerning coastal infrastructure development in relation to Natura 2000 sites is available here. BackgroundThe coastal infrastructure mini-site was created in partnership with the Institute for Infrastructure, Environment and Innovation (IMI). IMI is an independent, non-profit organisation with locations in Brussels, Hamburg and Amsterdam, aiming to demonstrate that the development of infrastructure can be reconciled with nature protection and environmental goals. In this connection, European nature legislation constitutes IMI's main focal point. IMI have specialised in projects that combine economic development and the preservation of Natura 2000 sites in coastal areas and estuaries. |
