Issue Exchange

The establishment of Natura 2000 protected areas across Europe to help protected vulnerable habitats and bird species should bring about many benefits for Europe's natural heritage and biodiversity. However, the sites also impact on many stakeholders, in sectors as diverse as land owners, energy companies, fisheries, tourism and port management. These sectors need to accommodate Natura 2000 protected areas into their operations. To do this presents many challenges and issues, especially with regard to cooperating with stakeholders and resolving conflicts. By sharing information and best practice, we stand a better chance of overcoming these issues.
