Introduction to Natura 2000 awards - recognising best practice in relation to Natura 2000
An award scheme is being developed to recognise excellence in supporting and communicating the aims of Natura 2000. Three levels of award are proposed:
- Natura 2000 Partner
- Natura 2000 Partner of the Year
- European Natura 2000 Partner of the Year
The details are still to be finalised, but the aim is to provide an incentive for engaging positively in Natura 2000 and supporting its nature protection objectives. The plan is for the award schemes to be administered by Member States and the European Commission. Details will be provided in due course.
